Hey Everyone!!!
Today
for our "Before and After" I decided to show you how to create Finger waves/Roller sets with
a 1 inch Marcel Iron, Thermal Styling spray 19 from Kenra, Kenra Artformation Spray 18 hairspray, and Bumble and Bumble pomade.
STEP 1: Start from
the bottom of your hairline right at the base of your neck and you work your
way up. Take a 1” x 1” section of hair, spray with a thermal protectant/setting
spray and wrap over the top of and around your iron.
DO NOT release the tension of the hair as you wrap it all the way to the end of
the strand. * Make sure you are wrapping the curl “on base” as you would with a
real roller set. This ensures Volume and
a consistent curl pattern! Spray generously with hairspray as you go.
*As you release the curl from your Iron DO NOT tug on the
curl, by NOT tugging on the curl it sets in the way you release it from the
iron. If you were to tug the curl it would fall flat.
Once you’ve completed the entire head of hair like this, you
then get to move on to the fun part; back combing, comb out and getting to see
the pattern come to life!
STEP 2: Starting at
the base of the neck, begin to back comb, the more you back comb the greater
the volume you will have. Do this to the entire head section by section.
STEP 3: Take your comb and start to mold your “S” pattern! If
you would like the pattern slightly softer use a boar bristle brush. Spray with
hairspray as needed. I like to use small pelican or double pronged clips to
hold the pattern in place until show time! Once you get your “S” pattern
constructed spray liberally with hairspray. I then took a couple of bobby pins
and pinned her hair off to one side and introduced a fun flower and feather
combo for a hair piece!!!
Following our Hair we move into Makeup!
STEP 1: Starting with
our foundation. Today I used Clinique’s Perfectly Real shade 18G for Lisa’s
perfect match.
STEP 2: After I
applied the foundation I moved into highlighting and concealing, and I used
Clinique’s Perfectly Real shade 4G which is 2 shades lighter than Lisa’s
perfect match. I started at the top of her cheekbone and moved to the under eye
area and feathered the lighter shade into the foundation match. This instantly
brightens the under eye area as well as makes your cheekbones a main focus!
STEP 3: Another way to make your cheekbones “Pop” is to use
blush. My blush choice for this look was Carnation by Smashbox. This color
introduces a fresh bright look to go with our lighter pigmented eye look. Starting on and slightly underneath your cheekbone apply your blush all the way back to your temples. This also helps to contour the face.
STEP 4: Onto EYES, my favorite part! In the eye look I used
3 shades of eye shadow. Start with the lightest and move to your darkest. With
the light or highlight color, in this case, Linen from Smashbox, sweep all over
the entire lid all the way up to the brows. This will help to open and lift the
eye. The medium toned shadow, Golden
Orchid from Smashbox is meant to compliment your eye color. Sweep the medium
tone from the lash line to the crease on the main part of your lid. Next is our
deep tone, Chestnut from Smashbox, also known as our contour color. This draws
drama and depth to your eyes, at this point it will wow your friends, family or
your significant other with how (Insert eye color) your eyes are. Start at your
lash line and then move into the crease. Think “C” or Backwards “C” for
whatever eye you work on.
STEP 5: Using a gel
liner, line your top lash line with a bold line from the outer corner to the
inner eye. Also use the gel liner to line the bottom lash line going only about
half way across the lash line. Blend with a Q-tip until bottom lash line looks
soft. We used Sephora’s Gel liner in 01 Black Night. Next we added Maybelline’s
Lash Blast Mascara to finish our eye look.
STEP 6: Using a Nude/
Pink lip color from Marvelips and a gloss from Elizabeth
Arden in Rosegold we were able to finish off our natural yet striking look!
